Attention-Worthy: Volume VII
On creative mutual aid efforts, book proposals, and ancestral healing
Hi! Welcome to the April edition of Attention-Worthy. The next edition will go out on May 8, 2025. If you have something you’d like to promote, hit reply and send me the link. (Anything goes! An article you wrote, a painting you did, a poem you wrote. I want to share it with everyone I know.)
ONE
My friend, Caitie, created a mini podcast series that will help any service provider build authority and book clients through 7 key website changes.
Here’s what she says about it:
“You’ve grown, evolved, honed what you do — but your website doesn’t reflect how far you’ve come.
These short, actionable episodes + a companion PDF will help you:
Position yourself as the go-to choice in your industry
Remove credibility blockers and add the credibility boosters clients are looking for
Make booking ideal clients frustration-free—for them and for you.”
Get access to the ‘From Service Provider to Trusted Expert’ podcast series here.
Pssst. Caitie is also an absolute well of information when it comes to digital accessibility & inclusive design. If you have a podcast and you’ve been curious about this topic, I highly recommend you invite her on to chat all about it.
TWO
is hosting a free workshop next Thursday @ 12pm PST called Ancestral Ways for Precarious Times. (The post itself says it’s happening on April 10, but she had to move the call to April 17.)Here’s how she describes it:
“Together we’ll explore:
Why ancestral rupture might be part of what’s weighing us down
How to listen to what our body is already holding
Three gentle practices to reconnect — breath, ritual, and story
A guided invitation to root into the unseen and breathe with our well ancestors
We don’t need to know our full lineage.
We don’t need to reconcile the irreconcilable.
We just need a moment to listen — and an openness to begin working with our well ancestors.”
Finally, if you have financial flexibility to support Ixchel, she’s requesting mutual aid for a move to Xalapa, Veracruz to accommodate her chronic conditions. You can learn more about how to support her here.
THREE
Every month, I get the chance to work with wonderful podcast hosts and producers on behalf of my clients. Here are a handful that I think you should know about.
RENAE SAAGER || Renae Saager is a real-talk mindset coach who helps high-achieving women stop secretly bingeing, obsessing over food, and feeling like they’re “too smart” to still be struggling with this. After years trapped in binge eating, bulimia, and all-or-nothing thinking, she finally broke free—and now she helps other women do the same. Listen to her podcast Ditch the Binge, read her book Eat Drink Think, or learn more about her coaching here.
BREAKING DOWN THE PATRIARCHY || On her podcast, Amy Allebest is creating such thoughtful, accessible content through a lens that’s critical of oppressive systems – from feminist wellness to parenting beyond power. If the pod is too long for you, you can check out short-form content on her YouTube channel instead.
HILARY HENDERSHOTT || If you love talking about finances, Love Your Money is a must. She also has a guide called ‘7 Steps to Wealth.’
They say: “...learn how to build confidence, grow their wealth, and start reaching true financial freedom. And when we talk about women and financial freedom, we're not just discussing money--we're talking about dismantling patriarchal values that have kept us silent, compliant, and often, broke. It's time to change that.” You can grab the guide here.
LINDSEY PARSONS || If you’re obsessed with health (like me), I highly recommend checking out The Perfect Stool with Lindsey Parsons. An episode she thinks you would love is this one with Dr. Nayan Patel.
“Feeling low energy? Seeing sun damage or early signs of aging? Fighting chronic diseases? Discover how glutathione, known as the "master antioxidant," can support your health. In this episode, Dr. Nayan Patel, pharmacist and wellness expert, shares insights on his groundbreaking topical glutathione technology. We dive into its benefits, key precursors, warning signs and budget-friendly solutions.” Listen to it here.
|| I found Abbie’s podcast, The Full Plate, through our mutual contact Veronica Perretti and I’m so glad I did. It’s all about “healing from diet culture, creating peace with food, reclaiming body autonomy and trust, and taking a weight-inclusive approach to our well-being.” You can also read her Substack here.FOUR
I love a cold email template that ticks all of my boxes of:
Warm
Detailed
Has a specific action to take
This email template from Caitlin from Links I Would Gchat You If We Were Friends does just that.
FIVE
I published my first long-form essay ‘On the Death of Mentorship’ last month, and it received such beautiful, thoughtful feedback. It’s for you if you’ve ever felt stuck with wanting to grow your skillset and your network but didn’t have access to the financial resources required to do so.
My next essay is all about the relationship between energy and asking for attention, and it brings in themes of chronic illness, nervous system healing, and burnout.
I’m particularly interested in speaking with people who live with a chronic condition and belong to an under-recognized group about their relationship with asking for attention given their limited capacity. If you’re open to being a public or anonymous source for this piece, hit reply so we can chat about setting up a 15-minute call.
SIX
If you’re looking to move beyond contributing to mutual aid funds and want to offer more community support, this list from Vicky Osterweil is invaluable.
She says: “You don't have to reinvent the wheel, but you may have to transform your perspective on your time, your resources and your capacity. One thing people who don't already regularize these community survival practices are gonna have to get used to: dropping everything to help a near stranger with a weird, frustrating or time consuming logistical/emotional errand. Poor and surviving communities often call this "a day ending in y".”
Suggestions that I’m working on include:
Communal child care
Public spaces where people don't have to spend money
Communal art and crafting get-togethers
Urban guerilla gardening/beautification
First aid training (not on the list)
SEVEN
I had the absolute pleasure of connecting with Jennifer Fei (through our mutual contact
) for this Asian-American entrepreneur directory that I created earlier this year.Jennifer is the founder of ōen studios, which specializes in “in elevating the strategies, leadership, and governance of justice- and equity-driven organizations.” Her sweet spot is coaching for emerging leaders (executive directors, presidents, program coordinators, managers, etc.) at organizations focused on environmental justice, STEM equity, workforce equity, re-entry, and indigenous rights.
She’s also uniquely skilled at supporting organizations with transforming nonprofit boards from places of inequity and privilege to ones of access and diverse perspectives.
Learn more about her work here.
EIGHT
I have no idea how I got on Catherine LaSota’s emailing list (it’s a mystery we both can’t solve), but I’m so glad I am. Last month, she generously offered free creative coaching sessions to her audience. Given that I’ve felt like I was at a standstill with my fiction project, I jumped on the opportunity.
Talking to her lifted my creative spirits, and the impact of that conversation has led to a clear-headed, clear-hearted restart to my novel. Learn more about how she can support your creative projects here.
NINE
I’m booking clients for September through December! If you have a book coming out February/March 2026 (or you know someone who is), get in touch.
I would love to organize a podcast tour for authors in these categories (that have a critical lens on oppressive systems):
Parenting
Wellness
Self-help
Social justice / liberatory movements
Memoir+ (a mash-up between a self-help book and a memoir)
TEN
Bianca Gabrielle, an EFT tapping practitioner, recently opened doors for her Everyday Artist Community, which is “a sacred space where the neurodivergent and highly sensitive reclaim their creative power through nervous system regulation and gentle creative exploration.”
You can also listen to my interview with Bianca on healing through EFT tapping here.
ELEVEN
, a pastry chef with a special place in her heart for Belgian baking, just released a recipe bundle for spring baking.“Just like in her first book and the Fall recipe bundle, Sarah shares all her tips, tricks and techniques for getting results like you’d find in that world-class Belgian bakery.”
Recipes you can expect in this bundle include:
Belgian chocolate mousse
Naturally fermented elderflower lemonade
Pistolet buns
TWELVE
If you consider yourself a sensitive woman (hand raised very high here), you might resonate with Elizabeth Cush’s work. Beyond hosting the Awaken Your Wise Woman podcast, she’s also hosting meetups to connect with other highly sensitive women. The next one is on Thursday, April 24th @ 9am PT / 12pm ET. You can learn more and sign up here.
THIRTEEN
I’m obsessed with learning about how notable women in history asked for attention. So, this short from Sojourners for Justice Press stuck with me. It talks about the famous, Black women who were targeted by our government during the Red Scare. At the end, she references a PBS documentary called The Disappearance of Miss Scott. You can find it here.
FOURTEEN
I’ve known of Richelle Fredson’s work with book proposals for years but didn’t have the pleasure of meeting her until recently. If you’re looking for a partner in the book writing process, her 20+ years in book publishing and PR make her an obvious choice.
Right now, she’s looking to work with authors who are centering under-represented conversations, e.g. finance book for Latina women, book on career growth for Black women, etc. Learn about how she can help you write a book proposal and land a deal here, and find her on Instagram here.
FIFTEEN
I’m always looking for other podcast publicists to refer out to, so meeting Alice Draper was inevitable (and delightful). She’s the founder of Hustling Writers, and her team will pitch you for podcasts and contributions in major outlets. As a former journalist, she knows all of the tips and tricks for building out your “As Seen In” logo bar and her team pitches podcasts in a way that's customized and warm.
Right now, she’s looking for clients in tech, workplace improvement, and leadership.
Learn more about her pitching services here.
Thank you so much for the shout-out, Cher! I had to move my workshop. They are doing electrical maintenance in the neighborhood today. Thank goodness we have a WhatsApp group, or I wouldn't have known ahead. April 17th! 🙌🏽
